William Charles Spurge, age 64, of Staten Island, New York, died on Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 2, 1956, to William and Aline Spurge and grew up in Staten Island. He attended and graduated from both Susan Wagner High School and the College of Staten Island. He worked as both a teacher at Tottenville High School and as a sportswriter for the Staten Island Advance and was retired from both jobs.
Bill had an incredibly strong work ethic, but enjoyed being social among friends just as much. His outgoing personality and affinity for having a good time was infectious, and he was esteemed and loved by all those that he associated with. He was an avid sports fan and a great lover of music; he adored the legendary New York teams of the late 60's and music of the same decade, while practically being synonymous with The Beatles. So many knew of and attended his annual Spurgefest party every Summer.
He is survived by his son Sean Spurge, sister Joan Eastman, half-sister Cortney Daniels, niece Taylor Eastman and nephew Alex Eastman. Services will be held later in the year, likely in the form of a Spurgefest-esque celebration of life.
