Vietnam veteran, NYC police officer, loving family man
William M. Hyland, 67, died on March 24, 2018, in Staten Island University Hospital South.
Mr. Hyland was born in Brooklyn, lived in Huguenot, then settled in Rossville. He was a high school graduate, then became a NYC police officer for 20 years in the 9th Precinct and the 123rd Precinct.
Mr. Hyland was a Vietnam veteran and received the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; his loving children, Jessica Hyland and Michele Lopes (Ray), and his cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Ryder Lopes.
Funeral service is at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Thursday at 10 a.m., followed by cremation at Rosehill Crematory. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
