William R. Burgess, 67 Native Staten Islander, 'family man' William R. Burgess, 67, of South Beach, died on Sept. 22, 2018. A native Staten Islander, William grew up in Eltingville and other areas on Staten Island before residing in South Beach. He was a custodian for the City of New York, working at the Supreme Court on Staten Island before retiring in December of 2017. He was a graduate of Tottenville High School. William enjoyed fishing and working on cars. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the New York Yankees. He was a family man who cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he adored and loved dearly. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol; sons, William, James, Marc (Jackie); daughters, Kari (James) Duffy and Kellie; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Ryan, Charlotte Duffy; his brothers, James (Lorraine), Walter (Lori); his sister, Wendy (Fabrizio)Esposito and many nieces and nephews. Funeral home service is on Wednesday at 11 a.m., followed by a private cremation. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
