Walter Gannon

September 17, 1934 — December 28, 2021



Walter Gannon, 87, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Walter was born in Elmhurst, Queens, then moved to Eltingville, Staten Island in 1960.  He was a Detective with the NYC Police department for 24 years, retiring in 1980.  He was also head of security at Sealand Shipping in Elizabeth, New Jersey for 15 years.
Walter loved listening to his transistor radio and enjoyed listening to Talk Radio.  He was an avid fan of the NY Mets, NY Giants, and NY Rangers.  He especially loved family gatherings with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter is pre-deceased by his parents, Francis and Catherine Gannon; siblings, Robert Gannon, John Gannon, Mary Leddy; grandson, Nicholas Kula. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; children, Maureen Gannon, Theresa Luciano (David), Joanne Kula (Michael), Eileen Morgan (George); nine grandchildren, Deanna Immitt, Michael Immitt (Amanda), Marissa Immitt, David Luciano, Kyle Luciano (Natalie), Jaclyn Koniarski (Michael),Justin Kula, John Morgan, Brendan Morgan,  and six great-grandchildren, Mason, Maxwell, Mark, Leo, Aubrey, Madison.
Funeral from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Tuesday, 10:15AM. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church at 11:00Am. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Friends may visit on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9PM
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Walter’s name to University Hospice would be appreciated.
