Vito Colella

Vito Colella passed away peacefully at home on September 24th, 2024 surrounded by his family. Vito was born on April 15, 1941 to Francesco and Angela Colella in Mola di Bari, Italy. He immigrated to Brooklyn, New York and later to Staten Island, New York with his wife Giovanna Colella. 

Vito loved his work for over 30 years as a Longshoreman. He enjoyed retirement life as a “snowbird” flying between Siesta Keys and New York often. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Vito is survived by his wife, Giovanna, three children, Franco (Darlene) Colella, Angela (John) Campanile, and Francesca (Frank) Kapitan, and his seven grandchildren, Vito (Carly) Colella, Nicolette Colella, Frank Colella, Daniela Colella, Anthony Campanile, Anna Campanile, and Edward Kapitan.

Vito will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 27th at St. Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Avenue Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
