STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Virginia Gallinaro, 91, of Sunnyside, a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, died Wednesday in Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton.
Born Virginia Camarota in Brooklyn, she began residing in Sunrise Senior Living in Sunnyside six years ago.
A 1940 graduate of Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn, she enjoyed cooking meals for her family, and vacationing in Cape May with her daughter, Roberta Scandaglia, and her grandchildren.
Mrs. Gallinaro volunteered at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn for 15 years and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Angels R.C. Church in Brooklyn until she moved in Sunrise Senior Living.
Her husband of 46 years, Frank Gallinaro, died in 1990.
In addition to her daughter, Roberta, surviving are a son, Frank; a brother, James Auditore, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will Monday from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a 10 a.m. mass in Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Huguenot.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetary, Queens.
