Former Staten Islander Vincent Todaro, 68, of Toms River, N.J., a retired supermarket department manager who enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, died Saturday in Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Tottenville in 1978 and lived there until 2008, when he relocated to Toms River.
Mr. Todaro was a department manager and meat cutter for Waldbaum's and Key Food stores in Brooklyn for more than 25 years. He retired in 2008.
He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Luke's R.C. Church, Toms River.
Mr. Todaro enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, traveling with friends, going out to dinner and attending movies.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Toms River.
Mr. Todaro was preceded in death by his son, Anthony, in 1983.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Joan Guadagno; his son, Joseph; his daughter, Dina Marie Moretti, and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 11 a.m. in Holy Child R.C. Church, Eltingville. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
