Victoria Casertano, 86, of Oakwood, a homemaker who had a passion for square dancing and treasured her family, died Friday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

Born Victoria Guarraci on Manhattan's Lower East Side, she lived in Knickerbocker Village there.

She worked as a seamstress before she and Canio (Kenny) Casertano were married in 1948. The couple moved to Brooklyn and lived there until 1963, when they moved to Oakwood.

Mrs. Casertano loved square dancing with her husband, and they were members of the Staten Island Square Set and the Staten Island Square Dancers. They had a family business, Grand Square Dance Apparel, in the former Prince's Bay Trade Mart, from 1972 to 1982.

She most loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She also enjoyed sewing, making ceramics, reading, shopping and going to the boardwalk at Coney Island.

She was very sweet and kind, and always had something nice to say about people, said her daughter-in-law, Anna Casertano.

Mrs. Casertano was a parishioner of St. Patrick's R.C. Church, Richmond.

Canio, her husband of 54 years, died in 2002.

Surviving are her sons, Carl, John and Ray; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
