Vanessa Gail Sharkey (nee: Lux) , Age 64
November 6, 1956 - April 2, 2021
Vanessa was an avid gardener. She loved planting every spring to make her cottage look beautiful. She also loved taking walks along the beach. She never wanted to sell her home because of its close proximity to the ocean. The ocean was her calming place. Vanessa was also an animal lover. She especially loved her cats. Music was another of her great loves. She travelled across the country following Gerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead Band. Tom Petty was also amoung her favorite singers. She also loved travelling upstate to the Hot Air Balloon Festivals.
Although she lost everything in SuperStorm Sandy, she fought to rebuild her home and life.
Vanessa's favorite saying was, "You have to stop and smell the roses!"
Vanessa is pre-deceased by her parents, Dolores Burges and John Lux and her husband, James Sharkey who passed away on February 16, 2001. She is survived by her long-time companion and love, George Mooney, her four sisters, Sharon, Andrea, Robin and Yvette.
