STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Former Staten Islander Thomas J. Scotti, 60, of Monroe, N.J., a business owner and loving family man, died yesterday in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Manhattan.
Born in Brooklyn, he graduated from James Madison High School. He moved to Rossville in 1987 and relocated to Monroe about two months ago.
Mr. Scotti owned numerous closeout stores throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan, and had his own import/export business.
He treasured time spent with his grandchildren. He also loved classic cars, and had owned classic Corvettes. He was fond of animals, especially his yellow Labrador retriever, Sandy.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Josephine Palumbo; his son, Bruno; his daughter, Lorraine Daly; two brothers, Michael and Randy; two sisters, Nanette Bianchi and Florence Jeremiah, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, both Tottenville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
