Thomas Roger McWeeney, 87, of Tottenville, a retired food service worker who was dedicated to his family, died June 25, at home.
Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he grew up in Brooklyn. He moved to Midland Beach in 1974 and lived there until 2004, when he moved to Tottenville to live with his daughter, Kathleen McWeeney.
Mr. McWeeney served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A seaman second class, he saw duty in the Pacific theater of operations.
He worked for more than 50 years in the food service industry, retiring in 2002.
Mr. McWeeney was a member of the Staten Island Elks.
He enjoyed listening to opera and was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed a glass of red wine and sharing special occasions with family and friends, especially his great-grandchildren.
Mr. McWeeney was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.
Surviving, along with his daughter, Kathleen, are his wife of 60 years, the former Frances Dono; his, son Charles; his daughter, Maureen Maloney; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, handled arrangements, including cremation.
