Theresa Andriany, 96, of Tottenville, the loving matriarch of three generations of family, died Friday at home.
Born and raised Theresa Testa in Irvington, N.J., she graduated from high school there. The family spent summers in Tottenville, and there she met Amedeo (Ammy) Andriany, and the couple fell in love. They were married in October 1938 and settled in Tottenville.
Mrs. Andriany most loved taking care of her family and having them around her. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting. Gracious and hospitable, she made the holidays special, but her home was always warm and welcoming, with lots of food, family said.
What was most special about her, they added, were the kind and thoughtful ways she always helped others, like hemming a dress or giving a haircut.
She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and relished time spent with them.
Mrs. Andriany was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.
Amedeo, her husband of 58 years, died in 1996.
Surviving are her daughters, Clementine Bridge, Florence Linane, Christine Giordano and Karen Andriany; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rossville.
