Theodore H. Hockenjos, 78, of Tottenville, a business owner who will be remembered as a loving father and friend, died Saturday in Morristown (N.J.) Medical Center.

A native of Glendale, Queens, he moved to Eltingville in 1963, and settled in Tottenville in 1991.

Mr. Hockenjos graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1953. He earned his associate's degree in business administration from the College of Staten Island at its former Sunnyside campus.

He had a 17-year career as a customer service engineer at IBM in Manhattan. He later opened and operated his own business, Hockenjos Business Machines. He retired in 1990.

A humble and quiet man, Mr. Hockenjos was dedicated to his family and friends.

He was a founding member and past president of the Oakwood Rifle and Pistol Club, and enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed woodworking and was fond of visiting his vacation home in Glen Spey, N.Y.

His wife of 35 years, the former Joan C. Isaacs, died in 1991.

Mr. Hockenjos is survived by his sons, William and Joseph; his brother John; his companion, Elizabeth Scott and five grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
