Merchant Mariner, enjoyed time with his family
Swithin Mac McWilliams Sr., 94, of Concord died Sept. 12, 2016, at Staten Island University Hospital North of natural causes.
He was born in Trinidad and Tabago, West Indies, then moved to the New York City area in the 1950s, then to Dongan Hills, Staten Island, in 1954.
He worked for 50 years as a Merchant Mariner for U.S. Lines, retiring at 65 years old.
Swithin loved all types of music, was an avid reader, enjoyed movies and loved animals. He was very knowledgeable about politics. He especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren.
Swithin was married to the late Daphnie for 58 years. She passed away in 2009.
He is survived by his children, Marilyn, Susan, Deborah, Swithin, Robert, John, Daphne, and Dr. Glen, and two grandchildren, Chase and Aidan.
There will be a funeral service at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery.
Friends may visit Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m
