Susan Hohauser 61, of Pleasant Plains, a retired registered nurse, died Tuesday in the New Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center, Clifton.
Born Susan Zbikowski in Brooklyn, she graduated from Bishop Kearney High School. She studied nursing at the former Staten Island Community College.
Ms. Hohauser moved to Huguenot in 1984. She also lived in Travis before settling in Pleasant Plains last year.
She spent many of her 37 years at Victory Memorial Hospital in Brooklyn as the head nurse on the cardiac care floor.
She belonged to the Fife and Drum Corps of Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church in Brooklyn for seven years. She also enjoyed gardening and the beach, and loved to play practical jokes.
She was always the life of the party, said her brother, Paul Zbikowski.
In addition to her brother, Paul, Ms. Hohauser is survived by her sons Lee, Robert and Scott; her mother, Dorothy Zbikowski, a sister, Dorothy McBride, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Huguenot. Cremation will follow in the Rosehill Crematory, Linden, N.J.
