Shirley Kolbenson

Shirley Lillian Kolbenson (nee Diehl), 82, a Staten Island, N.Y., native and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died last Wednesday, surrounded by family.
The funeral is from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery. A funeral home service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shirley married Charles Kolbenson and built a beautiful family of six children.
Shirley was described as kind, giving, and loving. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church for 35 years and served as a Sunday School teacher.
Her family described her as, the keystone that holds the family together.
Being the optimist, her grandchildren recall her finding a silver lining to any situation and coining the phrase, Today is a beautiful day the Lord has given us. Let us be glad and rejoice in it. Shirley was truly full of life and love.
Her daughter, Carol, and son, Roy, devoted their lives to caring for Shirley. She adored and appreciated them.
Shirley is survived by her children, Charles, Carol, David, Paul, and Roy.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Charles, and son, Donald.
