Shannon Lies, 31, the Tottenville mother who tragically died crossing the street Monday night, adored her children and worked tirelessly to support her family, relatives said.
She would take the shirt off her back for you ... she was just that type of person - always looking to help, said Briana Lies, her sister.
Lies, who grew up in Tottenville, worked for years as a waitress at different diners across Staten Island, most recently at Mike's Place in Annadale.
Her affable and welcoming personality made it easy for her to speak to strangers, her sister said.
She could meet a person and spark up a conversation with anyone, Briana said.
When Lies wasn't working, the single mom doted on her two young daughters, Giana Caceres, 9, and Olivia Garvey, 5, and cherished spending time them. They'd go to the movies together, spend time at the park or go ice skating, her sister said.
They were her life, she said.
Lies, who was six-months pregnant with a baby boy, had already chosen a name for her son, Antoine. She was looking forward to the addition to her family, her sister said.
She was really excited - she was finally going to get her baby boy.
Lies was killed Monday night when she was fatally struck by a car as she crossed Hylan Boulevard moments after she had just finished working a double shift at Mike's Place.
Her death left a void in the lives of her family.
She had a heart of gold and was always there to listen in times of need with a shoulder to cry on, Briana said.
In addition to her sister and daughters, Lies is survived by her father, George Lies; her mother, Cherrie Lies, and her brother, Stephen Lies.
The funeral will be Saturday from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a 10:30 a.m. mass at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, also in Tottenville.
