Rose DiOrio, 85, of Staten Island, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at home, in the company of her loving family.
The funeral is from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Private cremation will follow. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rose was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on June 9, 1931, to Angelo and Antoinette Micciulla. She was the oldest of 14 siblings.
She married Louis DiOrio on June 21, 1953. Together, they had five children, Annette Grimm, Donna Masucci, Cosmo DiOrio, Louis DiOrio Jr., and Richard DiOrio.
Aside from being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Rose was a talented cook and gardener. She loved to welcome visitors with home cooked meals made fresh with vegetables from her garden. Her interests also include playing bingo, taking trips to Atlantic City, N.J., and watching sports. She was an avid Mets fan and rarely missed a game.
In addition to herhusband and five children, Rose is survived by 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
