Robert J. Tyrell

Robert (Butchie) Tyrell, a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away at home on December 15, 2024. 

Born to Robert Tyrell and Mary McEwan on June 7, 1943 in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York. Rob was a native Staten Islander. He played in these woods as a boy, waterskied off its shores as a teen, and enjoyed sitting on the beaches as a senior. He was loved by his late step-father, Lou Manzione. 

Rob was a lifetime parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christian’s RC Church and attended Tottenville High School. He served in the Air Force Strategic Air Command at Plattsburgh A.F.B., New York. He was a dedicated mechanic at Wagner College until his retirement in 2007.

Rob was an avid outdoorsman who loved family camping in Lake George, archery, hunting, road trips, family cruises and dogs.

Rob is survived by his loving wife and childhood sweetheart, JoAnn, of fifty-eight years; his children, Teresa Cusumano and husband Chris, Mary Elizabeth Tyrell, Jo-Ellen Clancy and husband Brian, Robert Tyrell and wife Jessica. With pride and devotion, he leaves his ten grandchildren, Ethan, Erin, Andrew, Ryan Cusumano, Thomas, Colleen, Elizabeth, Shannon Clancy, Robert, Kayleigh Tyrell; brothers, Thomas and James Tyrell.

Poppie’s stories and playful pranks will be sorely missed. Until we meet again Poppie, we love you.
