Robert Soriano, 82, of Rossville, a retired construction supervisor and the dedicated patriarch of three generations of his family, died Saturday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Borough Park and graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School in his native borough.
Mr. Soriano served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, and saw duty in the Korean War. He later was stationed aboard LST 1165.
He had a 58-year career with Consolidated Edison, working as a construction supervisor in all five boroughs. He retired in 2008.
Mr. Soriano enjoyed fishing, cooking and reading. He was a sports enthusiast and rooted for the New York Giants.
He delighted in being with his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved to cook breakfast for them.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Romeo; his sons, Robert and Richard; his daughter, Linda Iacono; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, with a mass in the morning in Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, both Tottenville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
