Native Staten Islander Robert A. Peerson Jr., 56, a licensed plumber, U.S. Air Force veteran and family man, died Friday in Mystic Meadows Rehab & Nursing Center, Little Egg Harbor, N.J., after a brief stay.
Born and raised in Tottenville, he graduated from Tottenville High School in 1977.
Mr. Peerson served as an airman first class in the U.S. Air Force from 1978 until 1980, stationed in New Hampshire.
He relocated to New Jersey about 28 years ago, living in Seaside Park for 23 years before settling in Manahawkin five years ago.
Mr. Peerson had been working as a licensed plumber for many years.
He most loved spending time with his daughter and his family. He also enjoyed being at the beach, fishing and crabbing.
He was all about his family, said his sister, Sally Trivolis. He enjoyed being with people, and he had a good sense of humor.
While living on the Island, Mr. Peerson was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Tottenville.
Surviving, along with his sister, Sally, are his daughter, Victoria Peerson; his brother, Paul, and his sister, Nancy Perricone.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, also Tottenville.
