STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Robert A. Mandry, 70, of Prince's Bay, a retired Con Edison supervisor and hot rod enthusiast, died Thursday at Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Mandry graduated from the Westinghouse Trade School in Brooklyn. He moved to Prince's Bay in 1991.
He worked for Consolidated Edison for 38 years, retiring in 2000 as a supervisor.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brooklyn.
Mr. Mandry was a car and hot rod enthusiast and owned a 1949 Ford and a 1956 Chevrolet. He also enjoyed boating and fishing.
Mr. Mandry served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hazlewood during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph and St. Thomas Parish, Pleasant Plains.
His many loving nieces and nephews will miss him, said his wife of 46 years, the former Grace Freda.
Also surviving are his two sons, Robert and James; a sister, Jeanette Lampman, and five grandchildren.
The Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, is handling arrangements, which include a 10:30 a.m. mass Monday at St. Joseph and St. Thomas Parish, and burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
