Robert A. Landau, 86 FDNY firefighter for 40 years Robert A. Landau of Tottenville, 86, died on April 23, 2016, at his daughter's home in Jackson, N.J. He was born in Wilkes, Barre, Pa., and lived on Staten Island for 80 years. He worked for 40 years with the New York City Fire Department, including the executive board of the UFA Sergeant-At-Arms, and 18 years as driver for SICIL (Staten Island Center for Independent Living). He was poll worker for the Board of Elections for 20-plus years and a proud Democrat. He loved the NY Mets, and NY Jets, was part of the Tottenville Friendship Club and Firefighter Retirees Club, and a member of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church. Robert was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served in Europe. He was married to Dorothy F. Landau for 56 years before her death in 2009. He is survived by his children, Robert K. Landau and Dorothy R. Landau-Crawford, and granddaughter, Jacqueline Crawford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church. Interment is at Moravian Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home.
