STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Native Staten Islander Robert M. Buebendorf, 62, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., a retired electrical engineer who is remembered as a loving brother and uncle, died Monday in St. Lucie Medical Center.
Born in Tottenville, he graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School and attended Manhattan College. He relocated to upstate Monroe in 1995 and to Port St. Lucie in 2002.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1972, and saw duty in Vietnam.
Mr. Buebendorf was an electrical engineer and worked for a marine electronics firm until 2001.
While on Staten Island, he attended Our Lady Help Of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.
Surviving are his brothers, the Rev. Victor and James, and his sisters, Mary Pettella, Gerry Panayides and Anne Baker.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's R.C. Church, Rosebank. His brother, the Rev. Victor Buebendorf, pastor of St. Mary's, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
