Richard Zsuffa, 90, passed away on April 4, 2025 peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Tug boat captain with masters Captain’s license, Richard worked for American dredging company and he worked Dunbar and Sullivan. He worked up and down the east coast of the United States. He also did work in South America. He had a government contract to use dynamite to deepen the waters near east 56th street. He finished his career with the Staten Island Ferry Boats.
Richard was an avid fisherman and a local clamdigger, they were his passions. Richard always put his family first. He enjoyed entertaining his family and friends with large barbeques in the summer.
Richard is preceded in death by his mother Amy Faurote; Father Stephen Zsuffa; his wife Carol Ziel and his wife Margaret McInally. He is survived by his four children Richard (Virginia Grillo), Gloria (Edward Volsario), Dawn (Daniel O’Keefe), and Doreen (David Fedora); Six grandchildren Dennis Donovan, Brittney O’Keefe, Ryan O’Keefe, Daniel O’Keefe, David Fedora, and Kaelin Penor; as well as Seven great grandchildren.
Richard will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
