STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Longtime Staten Islander Richard F. Shouldis, 48, of Prince's Bay, an imaging technician who enjoyed being with his family and riding his Harley-Davidson, died Thursday at home.
Born in the Bronx, he moved with family first to Long Island, and then to Tottenville when he was 7 years old. He settled in Prince's Bay in 1993.
Mr. Shouldis graduated from Moore Catholic High School in 1982. He received his radiology training at St. Michael's Medical Center, Newark.
He had been working for 25 years in the radiology department of Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
He was loved by everybody, said his wife, the former Charlene Hassay. Everybody who worked with him said he was quiet but nice.
Mr. Shouldis enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle. He also was a big fan of rock n' roll, and enjoyed attending concerts with his wife and friends.
He liked to take walks with his family and work out with weights at home.
He was the best son, said his mother, Kathleen Shouldis.
Mr. Shouldis was a parishioner of St. Joseph-St. Thomas R.C. Parish, Pleasant Plains.
Along with Charlene, his wife of 23 years, and his mother, Kathleen, surviving are his son, Scott; his daughter, April Lynn Shouldis; his sister, Dana McKeon and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Bridge.
The funeral will be Monday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains. Arrangements include private burial.
