Richard Dun

May 8, 1958 — April 25, 2020

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we mourn the loss of another hero, on April 25th 2020 Richard H. Dun lost the battle he was fighting against covid-19. Like all those tragically lost to the coronavirus pandemic, Richard is not just another statistic or number. Richard was born on May 8th 1958 to Edward and Helen Dun and grew up on the lower east side of Manhattan. Richard retired from the FDNY/EMS where he served for 35 years first as an EMT and later as a lieutenant. He helped in the aftermath of 9/11 and survived the thyroid cancer that came a few years later. Richie was loved and respected by his co-workers, he helped organize many EMS events and could always be found behind a grill.

Known by his family affectionately as "Dadoo" he and his wife Evie created a beautiful family and millions of memories. Richard is survived by his sister Maria, his wife Evie, their two children; Arlene and Richard and four grandchildren Alyssa, Tyler, Mikoto, and Kenji. Richie was lucky enough to have a lifelong adventure with his best friend since first grade, Tim.

Richie had a beautiful life filled with laughter and happiness that was tragically cut short.

In lieu of food or flowers, the family has set up a gofundme in his memory all donations will go to the FDNY foundation and the Haitian Global Health Alliance.
