Raymond J. Mazurek, 72, of Tottenville, a retired FDNY firefighter who was devoted to his family, died Sunday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

The lifelong Tottenville resident graduated from Tottenville High School in 1959.

Mr. Mazurek was an FDNY firefighter for 22 years, assigned to Squad 3 in Bedford Stuyvesant and Squad 1 in Park Slope, both Brooklyn. He retired in 1992. Prior to joining the Fire Department, he worked for S.S. White at its former plant in Prince's Bay, for an engineering company and for Ford Motors in Edison, N.J.

He enjoyed socializing with family and friends, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his sons, Raymond and Ken; his brothers, Andrew and Robert; his sister, Ginger Lavin, and three grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for a later date. Arrangements, including cremation, are being handled by the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville.
