STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Former Staten Islander Philip J. Gebbia, 66, of Cape Coral, Fla., a retired printer and business owner, died Dec. 31 in Sunrise Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, he moved to New Springville in 1980 and to Prince's Bay in 1988. He relocated to Cape Coral in 2010.

A printer by trade, Mr. Gebbia worked for various print shops. He also owned a coin laundry, and most recently owned two day care centers on the North Shore.

Mr. Gebbia was a graduate of the New York School of Printing in Manhattan.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, and horseback riding.

Surviving is his wife of 31 years, Rebecca Sandbek.

The funeral service will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Tottenville. Burial will take place Monday in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains. Arrangements are being handled by the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville.
