Peter Alborano, 87, of Staten Island, passed away Sunday, December 19th, 2021. A fighter to the end, Peter was a beloved husband to the love of his life, Maureen Alborano, beloved father and best friend to his children, Joseph, Peter Jr., and Dina Alborano, and was an endlessly devoted grandfather to Christopher, Amanda, Brianna, Joseph, and Matthew Alborano.
Peter was a retired Fireman out of Ladder Company 170 in Brooklyn. He was a physical education teacher at Holy Family School in Canarsie, Brooklyn. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict in Germany, where he served beside Elvis Presley and played professional baseball for the Cleveland Indians. Peter was also head baseball coach for the Brooklyn College baseball team, and it was through baseball that he molded many young men throughout the boroughs of NYC, including his son Peter, who later signed with the Kansas City Royals. He also coached his daughter her entire life in track and field all the way to the nationally ranked level; however, one of his proudest moments was watching his son, Joseph's horse, "Artistic Fella," win the Meadowland Million Dollar Pace.
