Tottenville resident Paulette Brown, 69, a retired nurse who loved browsing at yard sales, died Sunday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay, of a stroke.
Born in Manhattan in 1943, the former Paulette Maher relocated as a teenager to Tottenville, where she remained for the rest of her life.
Mrs. Brown worked as a licensed practical nurse for almost 50 years. She spent the majority of her career at Lily Pond Nursing Home, Arrochar, where she retired in the last decade.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking and gardening and founded the Boathouse Quilting Club, a local social group.
Mrs. Brown was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Pleasant Plains.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Leon; a son, Leon Jr.; two daughters, Paulette Lauro and Nancy Brown; and three grandchildren.
Arrangements, which include cremation, are being handled by the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville.
