Longtime Tottenville resident Patricia Wolczanski, 77, a homemaker who most loved being with her family and doted on her grandchildren, died Friday at home.
Born Patricia McGarvey in Brooklyn, she was brought to Tottenville as an infant and grew up there.
She graduated from Tottenville High School.
Mrs. Wolczanski loved having the whole family over for the holidays, especially Christmas. She enjoyed cooking and baking and decorating her house for the occasion, and drew immense pleasure from seeing them enjoy it all.
A homebody, she loved being at home and had created an inviting, pleasing and cozy place where she happily welcomed people, family said.
She was giving and generous, and she never hesitated to open her heart and home to those who needed somewhere to stay, said her daughter, Kerri Ryan. She was warm and welcoming and she loved having her grandchildren with her.
Mrs. Wolczanski was fond of animals and there always were pet cats and dogs in the house. She also enjoyed an occasional visit to Atlantic City.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.
Mrs. Wolczanski's son, Richard, died in 2013.
Surviving, along with her daughter, Kerri, are her sons, Gary, Michael and David; her daughter, Sharon Wolczanski; her sister, Mary Calvanese, and four grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday at 8 p.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Arrangements include cremation.
