Patrice L. Sotomayor

December 24, 1958 — September 19, 2024

Patrice Sotomayor of Tottenville died on September 19, 2024 when her loving heart gave out at one of her favorite places in Pennsylvania, rather than during multiple prior hospital stays over the last few years. Her time to move on happened more fittingly at a place that gave her joy.

She is survived by Carlos Sotomayor, her husband of 31 years; her children Michael Miller, Christine Gleason, and William Gonzalez; her stepchildren Crystal Sotomayor, Stephen Sotomayor, and Carrie Roper Addis; her grandchildren Danielle Miller, Joseph Feraudo, and Julia Sousa; and her sister Frances and brothers Michael, Gene, and Donald; and too many friends who loved her to list.

Before her illness Patrice was known for her delicious creative cakes. When no longer able to bake, she shared her creativity making unique artistic ducks for cruises, and giving personally made ducks as gifts.

After being revived a few moments before being declared dead five years ago, she firmly believed that at her death the focus should be on remembering the good memories and celebrating the love in one’s life, rather than dwelling on sadness. She is now peaceful with God. We will miss her, but are blessed to have received the gift of five extra years with her.
