It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Nancy Pierce, age 86, a longtime resident of Tottenville, who passed away peacefully on November 26, 2021, at Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center where she resided for the last four years. Born January 25, 1935, to Agnes Jelicks and Joseph Sohl in the town of Kreischerville, Staten Island. She was a graduate of Tottenville High School Class of 1952. She went to work as a secretary in Manhattan, shortly after graduation.
She met and married Perry(Tom) Pierce in 1954, settling right away in Tottenville where they enjoyed 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2007. Their home was a source of comfort and fun with family gatherings that celebrated our many milestones: birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays that we all looked forward to. We also enjoyed the simple times at the kitchen table with mom and a cup of coffee. She was a great listener, problem solver, and supporter.
Nancy worked as a secretary for Arthur Kill Correctional Facility for 22 years retiring in 1990. Her sweet nature produced many friends while working there who remained in her life. After her retirement she spent most of her time with her 3 grandsons, attending their sports events and activities which she never missed. She remained a constant in their lives.
Nancy and Tom spent many vacations in Cape May, New Jersey, and were joined by their children and grandchildren. We all share many fond memories of our time spent with them there.
She is a parishioner of Our lady Help of Christians R.C. Church in Tottenville.
Nancy will be remembered for her selflessness and giving nature but most of all, for her unfailing love for her family and friends. Mom, you will be sorely missed by all of us.
predeceased by her parents and husband, and her brother, Joseph R. Sohl, she is survived by her daughter, Lynn App and son-in-law, Gary; her son Joseph Pierce and daughter-in-law, Lori; 3 grandsons, Gary App; Joseph Pierce; Thomas Pierce, grand-daughter-in-law, Alexandria and great-grandson, Andrew.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center for their efforts and limitless support.
