STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Lucy N. Piazza, 84, of Pleasant Plains, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died yesterday in Staten Island University Hospital, in Ocean Breeze.
Born Lucy N. Baudo in Manhattan, she moved with family to Brooklyn as a child.
She and her husband, Joseph, owned and operated Cut Rate Dairy in Brooklyn for more than 20 years, until selling the business in 1977. A year later, they relocated to Florida, where Mrs. Piazza owned a hair salon in Port St. Lucie. The couple moved to Jackson, N.J., in 1998, and settled in Pleasant Plains in 2000.
"She was a loving caring mother and we will miss her," said her son, Salvatore.
Mrs. Piazza was a member of the Friendship Club at Mount Loretto, Pleasant Plains. She also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and dining out with family and friends.
She was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains.
Along with Joseph, her husband of 57 years, and her son, Salvatore, surviving are her sons, Vincent and Peter; six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
