STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Nancy Beshara, 92, of Huguenot, a loving matriarch who enjoyed entertaining family, died Thursday in the Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Castleton Corners.
Born Nancy Cama in Brooklyn, Mrs. Beshara moved to Huguenot 15 years ago.
In her younger years, Mrs. Beshara was a seamstress. She later worked as a dietician for the city Board of Education for 27 years, retiring in 1999.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church in her home community, where she participated in the senior citizens' group.
Also a member of the Mount Loretto Friendship Club, Mrs. Beshara loved to sew and dance. She also enjoyed cooking and taking trips to Atlantic City.
She loved her family,' said her daughter, Theresa Mercado. She was the one who held all the holidays at her house. She was a fantastic cook and she loved when people enjoyed her food.'
Her husband of 42 years, Edward, died in 1989. She is survived by two son, Michael and Raymond; a daughter, Theresa Mercado; a brother, Pasquale Cama; a sister, Antoinette DeMeo; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be Monday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a 10 a.m. mass in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Burial will be in Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y.
