Michael Hangeland, 35, of Huguenot, a clinical analyst and avid New York Jets fan, died Friday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
The lifelong Huguenot resident graduated from Tottenville High School, where he played junior varsity baseball. He also participated in the school's Institute Program and Academy of Finance.
Mr. Hangeland earned his bachelor of arts degree in finance from the College of Staten Island, Willowbrook.
A clinical analyst, he last worked for Fox Pharmaceuticals for three years.
Mr. Hangeland was a loyal New York Jets football fan, and with his father held season tickets for many years. He also liked watching football and baseball on TV, along with classical movies.
He enjoyed the companionship of his family's Labrador retrievers.
Mr. Hangeland was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Willowbrook.
Surviving are his parents, Robert and Linda Hangeland, and his sister, Kristen Hangeland.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
