Michael Bauer

March 27, 1961 — October 17, 2024

Michael Bauer, 62 years old passed away on October 17, 2024 due to a heart attack while living at Lakeside Manor Home for Adults in the Silverlake section of Staten Island.

He grew up on Barnard Avenue in Tottenville. He was the first born to Joanne and Albert Bauer. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl, Lisa, and little brother, David. He was also a very good uncle to his niece Susie, who has since passed.

Michael had many hobbies and things to keep him busy. He loved going to the library and he loved going to the Brownie Pro Sport Hobby Shop on Bennett Street in Port Richmond where he would find his favorite model stock cars, and put them together. A big fan of the WWF wrestling ,He was a fan of the New York Mets. He was a big fan of Elvis Presley and was a big fan of Staten Island's own Rock & Roll Jimmy Mack band and got to play his Harmonica on various occasions. Since childhood, Wiessglass Stadium, where his father Al drove stock car 227 was maybe the greatest part of Michael. He continued to go to Wiessglass Stadium reunions. He was a member of the South Shore touch tackle league, Ruptured Ducks, and the Tottenville Lizards.  He was also a member of the Smith League Softball League on teams Smitty Sports and Dr. Shakin, where he coached first base. He was also a member of the South Shore Softball Association, coaching first base for various teams such as Dutch Masters, Tottenville Lizards and the Secret Squirrels, with a pipe full of Captain Black always on hand.

Michael also had the distinction of owning one of the rarest breeds of dog in the world. His little dog, Lucky was according to Mike, part Squirrel and part Butterfly. Mike's life journey had some people along the way who always looked out for him, Gary Geidel from Rescue 1 who died on 911. Gary was Mike's superhero and always was Mike's protector. Paul Kidder owner of Rose & Paul's deli was another one who looked after Mike to make sure he was always safe. Larry Liedy of Leidy's Famous Shore Inn was another one who always took care of Mike and looked out for his best interests. Also Matt Dandrea and family are the ones that stand out and took care of Mike.

The neighborhood of Tottenville would always look out for Michael. He was a special guy who didn't have many things so special. He was loved by many.

God bless you, Michael.
