STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Mary Owens, 84, of Milwaukee, Wis., a former Staten Islander and homemaker, died Friday in Ruth's Hospice House, Milwaukee.
Born Mary Peters in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she moved to Tottenville in 1943 and relocated to Milwaukee in 2003.
A homemaker, Mrs. Owens was active with the Cub Scouts Pack 21 and was a member of the Catholic Committee for Scouts and the All Faiths Committee for Scouts. She was also a member of the Mater Christi Guild and the Altar and Rosary Society at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville, where she was a parishioner.
She enjoyed golf, knitting, crocheting, baking and spending time with her pets.
Her husband, Hubert Robert, died in 2003.
Surviving are four sons, Robert, Kenneth, Larry and Frank; one daughter, Mary Ellen Owens; three sisters, Betty Sauer, Elaine Owens and Marylou McGrath; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Grasmere
