Mark Olsen

Mark Olsen, 56, a lifelong Staten Islander, died Friday at the Silver Lake Specialized Care Center, Brighton Heights.

Born in Eltingville, Mr. Olsen graduated from Tottenville High School. He received an associate's degree from the College of Staten Island and worked as a carpenter until his retirement in 2009.

He also worked as a mechanic, rebuilding the engines of foreign cars.

In his leisure time, Mr. Olsen enjoyed gardening and landscaping. He was also a marksman, avid reader and guitarist, and often played his guitar in Wolfe's Pond Park.

Surviving are two brothers, Kenneth and Eric.

Funeral arrangements, including cremation, are being handled by the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville.
