Marie Scotto Calvoni

Marie Scotto Calvoni, 87 of Tottenville passed peacefully and ascended into the loving arms of her beloved Donald.  Born in Brooklyn in 1933, she, along with her sister Emma & brother Buddy, were raised by their parents James & Elsie Maio. Her strength and leadership qualities were evident from early on when she became Captain of the Guard in high school.

Marie married Donald after his service in Korea. Widowed at a young age, she dedicated her life to the health and well-being of her three children. Fifteen years after Donald’s death, Marie married Nick, a wonderful dedicated man, who was tragically lost after just 4 months. Marie was a legal secretary who worked on Madison Ave for many years until her abrupt retirement in 2001.

She enjoyed taking her family on yearly vacations which are memories that her family deeply treasures. She was most proud of her children and their spouses, Marie & Jeff Giordano (deceased), Michael & Kathy Scotto, and Elsie & Dan Kenny.  She adored her grandchildren, “The Magnificent 7”, as she called them: Michael Scotto & his wife, Jaclyn; Kristine Scotto & her fiancé Mike Floyd; Dan Kenny; Victoria Giordano & her fiancé John Carstensen; James & Kaitlin Kenny; Nick; and Alexandra.  She was blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Gabriella & Michael Scotto, Danny & Evangeline Kenny and Finn Kenny.

She touched the lives of those who met her and will be deeply missed by her heartbroken family.
