Maria Capalbo
July 10, 1944 – January 2, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Capalbo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2025, at the age of 80.
Maria Capalbo was born on July 10, 1944, in Acri, Italy. She moved to America with her family at the age of 10, settling in Brooklyn. Maria graduated from Bay Ridge High School and, during a trip to Italy, met her future husband, Attilio. After marrying, Maria dedicated her life to raising their five children, with a strong focus on their education. She was always present – attending every school function, cheering them on, and helping with homework and tests. As her family grew, Maria extended that same love and devotion to her grandchildren, always showing up to support them and be part of their lives.
Maria found joy in traveling, often visiting her home in Florida and enjoying cruises and trips with her family. This past year, she was overjoyed to welcome her first great-grandchild, a moment that brought her great happiness.
She and Attilio shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, surrounded by the family they built together.
Maria is survived by her devoted husband, Attilio Capalbo, and their five children: Salvatore Capalbo and his wife Irene, Roe Mugavero and her husband Pete, Joe Capalbo and his wife Jill, Sandra Rams and her husband Robert, and Anthony Capalbo and his wife Lena. She was the cherished grandmother of Francesca and her husband Zack, Andrew, Alexandra, Jackie, John, Christopher, Anna, Sofia, and Benjamin, and the proud great-grandmother of Leo.
