STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Margaret Wilson, 87, of Richmond Valley, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Thursday in the Staten Island University Hospital, in Ocean Breeze.
She was born and raised Margaret Lombardi in Brooklyn. She also lived in Tottenville before settling in Richmond Valley.
Mrs. Wilson worked in Manhattan for MGM Studios before her marriage, then left the workforce to become a homemaker.
She was an active member of many groups, including the South Shore Swim Club, Sweet Adelines International and the Historical Society of Staten Island. She also participated in the Senior Olympics.
She enjoyed playing mahjong with her friends and traveling to Barefoot Bay in Sebastian, Fla.
Her husband of 59 years, Stanley, died in 2008.
Surviving are her son, Roger; her daughters, Kathleen Leschke, Janet Rigg, Arleen McLaughlin and Peggy Fuller; a brother, John Lombardi; a sister, Carol Holley; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
