Margaret R. Cowan, 96 Longtime Tottenville resident and great-grandmother Margaret R. Cowan (nee McFadden) died on April 6, 2016, at Staten Island University Hospital South. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Mrs. Cowan lived in Tottenville, Staten Island, for over 75 years. She graduated from Curtis High School. She was a medical secretary for Arthur Kill Correctional Facility - NYS Department of Corrections. She attended Our Lady Help of Christian's R.C. Church, and was part of Our Lady Help of Christian's Rosary and Altar Society, and the Tottenville Friendship Club. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. Her husband of 70 years, John Cowan, died in 1997. She is survived by her sons, John R. and his wife, Louise, George W. and his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Patricia Nocero and her husband, Joseph; sister, Phyllis DeLuca; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady Help of Christian's R.C. Church on Monday at 11 a.m. Cremation is at Rosehill Crematory. Friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home.
