Brooklyn native Marjorie Gogarty, 85, of Prince's Bay, a gregarious retired secretary, died Friday at home.

Born Marjorie Banks in Brooklyn, she moved to Prince's Bay in 1977.

She graduated from the former Brooklyn Manual Training High School. She worked as a secretary at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for many years, retiring around 1988.

She was a real social butterfly, said her daughter-in-law Michelle Gogarty.

Mrs. Gogarty loved to socialize. She was a member of the Mount Loretto Friendship Club in Pleasant Plains, the Staten Island Red Hot Hatter-Red Hat Society and the Henry Stolzenthaler Columbiette Auxiliary Council No. 1675.

She was also a volunteer at New York Methodist Hospital.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and often shopped and traveled.

Her other pastimes included following the horse races and watching the television shows The Price is Right, Blue Bloods and Judge Judy.

Her husband of 65 years, William Gogarty, died in 2003.

Surviving are her sons, Michael, James, and William Gogarty; her daughter, Carol Gogarty; a brother, William Banks; a sister, Judy Sacco; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Huguenot. Burial will follow in Resurrection cemetery, Pleasant Plains.

Services: A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday August 22,2013, at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church. Burial will Follow at Resurrection Cemetery

Visitation: Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home Tuesday August 20,2013 and Wednesday August 21,2013 from 2-4- & 7-9 PM .
