Lucy Siragusa, 86, a retired bank teller who will be remembered as kindhearted and devoted to her family, died Thursday in Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Castleton Corners, where she had resided for one month.
Born Lucy Kalenda in Jersey City, she lived in Brooklyn before moving to Bay Terrace in 1970. In 2014, she moved to Rossville to live with her son, Robert, and his family.
Mrs. Siragusa worked for 20 years as a bank teller at the former Manufacturers Hanover Trust in Manhattan and on Staten Island, retiring in 1994.
She enjoyed reading, going on long walks and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Mrs. Siragusa made the most delicious homemade potato salad and it was always enjoyed by her entire family.
She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother,' 'said her daughter-in-law, Mary Siragusa. Being generous and always helping others were her best qualities.'
In addition to her son, Robert, she is survived by two grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
