Lucia Ariaudo, 93, a native of Italy and an accomplished seamstress who was devoted to her faith, died Saturday in her Annadale home.

Born Lucia Spinelli in Nocera Inferiore, Italy, Mrs. Ariaudo immigrated to Hoboken, N.J., in 1957. She also lived in Brooklyn, before moving to Rossville in 1996. She had lived in Annadale for the past year.

A homemaker, Mrs. Ariaudo learned impressive sewing skills as a child, having been raised in a convent by Catholic sisters who taught her the skills. A very talented seamstress, she never did it professionally, but was well-known for sharing her creations with family and friends.

She also crocheted very well. "To her very last days, she continued to produce things, like scarves and hats, for family and friends, and also teach people how to crochet," said her son, Joseph Ariaudo.

Mrs. Ariaudo was a very devout Catholic and watched mass daily on television. She also listened to Radio Maria, an Italian Catholic radio station, which she called frequently, and was often featured on the air, her son said. Mrs. Ariaudo also sponsored many children through the Christian Children's Fund.

She was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains.

Her husband of 41 years, Domenico, died in 1998.

In addition to her son, Joseph, she is survived by a sister, Vincenza Mendito and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a 10:30 a.m. mass in St. Thomas Church. Entombment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Queens.
