Louis W. Tabeek: 07/25/1949 – 12/23/2021

Louis W. Tabeek of Staten Island, New York passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the age of 72.

Louis was born in Brooklyn, New York in July 1949, to father Joseph Tabeek and mother Julia Dachille. The oldest of four children, he was a trickster, often antagonizing his younger siblings.  As they all grew Louis would prove to be their greatest supporter and most trusted advisor.  He was always a shoulder that family and friends alike could lean upon.

From a young age Louis worked any odd jobs he could find, spending much of his time after school cleaning and laying carpet.  His work ethic and ambition were evident early on in life.  While in high school he met his wife, June Fallick.  The high school sweethearts married on May 19, 1972 and had been married for 48 years at the time of his passing.

Shortly after marriage, Louis was accepted into the police academy.  As an officer in the NYPD he rose through the ranks, working with the Organized Crime Control Bureau when he retired as a Detective, first grade in 199. Concurrently, Louis joined the Army National Guard.  He was a ‘weekend warrior’ who participated with the Army both stateside and abroad.  As a member of the 244th Medical Group he was sent to Saudi Arabia to serve in Operation Desert Storm at the rank of Command Sergeant Major.  In 1989 he received the Bronze Star for his service.  Upon retirement, he was honored by his fellow NCO’s for his “dedication and concern, positive attitude, and ability to ‘Get things done’.”

In February 1984, Louis and June became parents to their daughter Jennifer.  An active husband and father, Louis supported his family in every way imaginable.  He set up art classes, hosted parties, drove to college campuses, painted apartment walls, and provided every aspect of support to his daughter and wife.  A true ‘Jack of all trades’ there was never a project or problem that he could not tackle.  Ever willing and able, he offered his time and his service to all around him; not only family and friends, but his city, his state, and his country.

Upon retirement from the NYPD and the military, Louis continued to work in security and surveillance industries.  He ran his own business for a number of years and worked as an investigative officer at JP Morgan.  For him, “Where there is ambition, there is success,” and he modeled that quote in all aspects of his life.

At home, Louis was a simple guy; he enjoyed cooking and watching re-runs of favorite shows, like Seinfeld, MASH, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Star Trek with his dog, Gryffin.  He was a fan of James Bond movies, Classic Rock music, and had seen The Hunt for Red October more times than he could count.  He was a funny and loving grandfather, who enjoyed fishing and taking the kids out on his boat.  He was a ‘master of the universe’ who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Louis was preceded in death by his father Joseph.  He is survived by his mother Julia, his wife June, his daughter Jennifer, his sisters, Francine Pagano and Mariann Parisi, his brother Joseph Tabeek, and grandchildren Theodore and Alice Medders.
