Loreta was born in a small town in Italy, Mola di Bari on August 31, 1927, the youngest daughter of a family of eight children. She married Beniamino Maglio on April 26, 1952. Loreta then moved to the United States in 1957 with her young daughter Caterina. A year later, Rosanna was born. Loreta lived in Bensonhurst Brooklyn for most of her life, where she raised her family.
Loreta’s passions were baking her family’s favorite cookies, tending to her garden, watching her favorite Italian shows on TV and making her daily phone calls to family and friends.
Loreta was an active and dedicated member of the Maria Santissima Addolorata Club and of St. Athanasius Church.
Loreta was fortunate to be part of the weddings of her six grandchildren, Antonio, Alessandra, Antonio, Gianfranco, Michael and Gianvito. She was lucky to have eleven great grandchildren and another on the way in a few days.
Loreta was predeceased by her husband Beniamino in 1995 and by six of her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Caterina and Rosanna, her sons in law Vito and Franco, her brother Vito and sisters in law Rosa and Phyllis, and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren
