Loving mother, wife, aunt, and sibling Lillyann (Liz) O'Connor, 76 a native Staten Islander passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024 surrounded by her family in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Born on February 10, 1948, Liz was a lifelong resident of Rossville on Staten Island before moving to Atlantic City in 2022. After graduating from Tottenville High School Liz enjoyed a successful career as an Executive Assistant beginning with American Banker in 1965 until her retirement from Fox Family. Liz devoted her life to her family, pets, and community. Whether as a hostess for small groups or large- her door was always open and all were welcomed with a big smile, good conversation, a great meal, and a hot cup of coffee. Liz was well known for her active imagination, fun loving spirit, and superior wit and sense of humor.
Always creating a space for children, young and old, to express themselves and be at ease, Liz was an active mom serving as a cub scout leader and organizer of arts and crafts, and various outdoor activities. As a woman of Faith, she was an active parishioner of St. Joseph/St. Thomas, and a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas- Court St. Clare, Liz was deeply connected to her religious community and brought her helpful spirit, administrative skills, and strong work ethic to her work in charity and community events.
In her younger days Liz could be found riding and caring for her horses on the South Shore of Staten Island-a pursuit that would lead to her meeting her husband and engendered a lifelong devotion to the care of horses in her daughter.
After moving to Atlantic City Liz maintained her sense of community and devotion by quickly making deep friendships and participating in social and religious gatherings in the Ocean Club Condominium and The Parish of St. Monica.
She will be remembered for her endearing quick wit, curiosity, and a remarkable sense of humor-as well as her strength, bravery, and tenacity when faced with her significant health challenges. Her spirit never faltered and she quickly developed a deep connection and warmth for all of her caregivers, expressing a deep sense of gratitude for the care she received.
She is survived by her Loving husband of 54 years John, and her daughter Marion O'Connor and son-in-law Mo Beciri, and her brothers Edward, Theodore, and Robert Rokicki. She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Marion Rokicki, sister Adele Borazzo, brother Walter Rokicki, and her son John Aloysius. May she Rest In Peace.
